Dr. David Hughes
14th September 2004: The Organic Movement - Global Saviour or Food Fad?
Organic food is becoming increasingly popular - shelf after shelf is given over to it in every major supermarket and the premiums charged for food grown and produced without using pesticides are extremely high.
But why do devotees prefer organic produce? And is it worth it?
David Hughes, who gained his doctorate here at the University of Oxford, and now works for Syngenta's agrochemicals division, looks at the four main reasons why people buy organic food, and examines the evidence for and against the claims made on its behalf.
Come along and join us at 7pm in Blackwells Main Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford.
