Dr. Kathleen Taylor
12th July 2005: Brainwashing
Brainwashing inspires both fear and fascination. Whenever a cult self-destructs, or terrorists massacre civilians, we find ourselves asking how people can come to carry out such atrocities. Psychologists and politicians have offered many suggestions, but one resource remains largely untapped: our growing knowledge of the human brain itself.
Dr. Kathleen Taylor will discuss how research from psychology and neuroscience can help us to understand what happens in brainwashing.
Come along and join us at 7pm in Blackwells Main Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford.
