Henley Royal Regatta
Issue 100 - Centenary June 1997
Henley Royal Regatta details
What's New
- The Women's Single Sculls will be known as The Princess Royal Challenge
Cup.
- Umpires
will adopt FISA's current starting procedure of saying 'Attention!'
(pause) 'Go!'. The traditional preliminary address of 'When you are
straight and ready, I shall start you like this...' remains.
- The word
'oarsman' has been substituted for 'competitor' in Rule 15 (c)(ii), having
the effect of making it easier for coaches to substitute coxes. The rule
prevents adjustment of crew make-up once entries have been published.
- The
Stewards' Charitable Trust benefited by £165,000 from the Regatta and
£100,000 from Henley Royal Regatta Ltd last year.
- The newest Steward is
Steven Redgrave CBE, elected in December 1996. He is expected to be
competing in the Stewards' Challenge Cup.
