Issue 100 - Centenary July 1997
Christopher Dodd looks back on Regatta's History
From Christopher Dodd, Editor
Regatta was founded ten years and a hundred issues ago when the Amateur Rowing Association introduced individual registration. Its twin aims are to provide a means of communication between members of the ARA - individuals, clubs and regattas - and to be a magazine written by rowers about rowing for rowers.
When we started none of us had a clue where registration or Regatta would get to. Since then we have steadily increased circulation, content and, we hope, quality. We have chronicled immense changes in rowing and some mighty successes of British crews.
To celebrate our centenary we asked movers and shakers in British and international rowing to tell us how they think rowing will look in ten years' time as well as inviting them to share their highs and lows of the last ten years. We hope we'll be around in 2007 to celebrate 200 issues, and that you, the readers, advertisers and contributors, will enjoy another decade of information and entertainment with Regatta.
