Hayes takes over lightweights

Maurice Hayes succeeds Sean Bowden as full-time high performance coach for lightweight men. Hayes is currently head coach at University of London Boat Club and has extensive experience of coaching at elite level. In 1996 he was head coach for the Nations Cup team, and coached the lightweight men's quad at the World Championships in Strathclyde. He was the lead coach for lightweight women in Aiguebelette. Hayes's task will be to rebuild Britain's medal winning tradition at lightweight level, with the specific goal of a lightweight Olympic medal at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
