Issue 105 - February 1998
Trinity Regatta on the Liffey outside Dublin is moving to June 13 and 14 to enable students to complete exams prior to their build-up for Henley. By agreement with the Dublin University BC the event will now be organised by a team of graduates men and women representing Dublin businesses and the professions - under the chairmanship of barrister and veteran oarsman Donagh McDonagh.
This initiative coincides with the club's move, 100 years ago, from Ringsend in Dublin's tidal harbour to the quieter River Liffey. It is intended that this centenary be celebrated with some special races and a dinner.
Racing for men and women will be open to all categories and the return to home waters of a strong contingent of Lizzy oarsmen ex-DUBC men retired to the Lady Elizabeth RC will ensure hot competition in veteran events. Help with accommodation will be given. Cheaper travel is being negotiated.
