£1m for Museum's rowing gallery

The River and Rowing Museum has received a donation of £1 million from the family foundation of Urs Schwarzenbach who has requested that it be allocated specifically to the rowing galleries. The donation brings the total raised towards the current target of £5 million to £1.5 million.

Schwarzenbach has lived in Shiplake since 1983 and was a supporter of the museum from the outset, contributing £50,000 towards the planning stage of the project in 1991. As a Leander member he has also made a donation towards the refurbishment of the clubhouse.
