Clubs: Loch Lomond ARC, London RC, Imperial College BC, NRA, Lea RC, UL

Qualifications: MSC in Sports Science

Experience: Coach at Imperial College 85; Assistant to Mark Lees at NCRA 86; restarted UL lwt squad, GB lwt 4- 89; Lwt 8+ World Championship 89; Director of Rowing Development for Hong Kong RA 93-'94.
Memories: UL lwt 4- smashing Visitors record but losing to IC in final; Gold for GB lwt 4- at Lucerne.

Role of Regional Development Coach
Coach Education : Organising seminars, training days, camps, Bronze and Silver awards and a coaching audit of the region to assess needs.
Performance & Excellence : Running Talent ID scheme to ensure the best get the best - this includes sports science support.
Participation: Working with clubs to attract new members and to found new clubs. Creation of school links and assistance with the school ergo scheme. Liaison to help find funding and facilitating co-ordination and co-operation between clubs.
National Role : Delivering ARA coaching awards. Review of coaching award scheme.

Successes

• 1) Three girls selected for Junior World Championships 96
• 2) Region wins 12 medals at National Championships
• 3) Bewdley/Stourport eight comes 35th in HoR
• 4) New Club formed at Worcester College of Higher Education
• 5) Matthew Beechey wins Bronze in 4x at U23 World Championships
• 6) Phil Beard wins U23 Lwt Gold 1x at National Champs
