Star Club hosts its two day regatta over this coming weekend with racing from 9am onwards on both days. Saturday is the long course from the suspension Bridge to the Club House opposite County Hall and Sunday is the sprint event over half that distance.
Permanent Fixtures Staffing Solutions are the headline sponsor for the regatta. The coxed four of Dan Hetherington, Mark Bavington, Rad Bertschinger, Will Eason and cox Josh Hetherington won their heat to make the final where they were just eased into third place. Meanwhile at Peterborough Regatta the Star ladies novice crew of Louise Burley, Sarah Hulance, Claire Ackerman, Evonne Goodge and cox Polly Palmer put in the fastest time of the day to win their first prize in rowing. The Star masters coxless four of Simon White, David Taylor, Jon Woods and Colin Hunt put in a very fast time of 3 minutes 13 seconds to win Elite coxless fours in a straight final. As part of the 50 years of womenıs rowing in Bedford Star Club will also boat a ladies crew to take part in an invitational race against Dame Alice Harpur School. Lynda Higgins, a coach at Dame Alice and former Star ladies rower said, We have organized a get together of the girls I used to row with, I donıt want to use the term Old Girlsı, to tie in the 50 years of ladies rowing with 10 years of rowing at Dame Alice.ı
