Sydney University Sport is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Head Coach to work with our elite rowers in liaison with the Men's and Women's coaches.
This position will be based at Linley Point, Lane Cove and the sports office at the Arena Sports Centre, Western Ave University of Sydney.
The Head Coach will be responsible for the coordination, administration and coaching of the elite male and female rowers. It is expected that the successful applicant will work closely with the Men's and Women's coaches in the development and management of the programs.
The Head Coach must have comprehensive and up to date technical knowledge for all levels and disciplines of rowing; experience in coaching high performance athletes and the ability to recruit and develop athletes to elite level.

Selection Criteria
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 NCAS ˇV Rowing, Coaching qualification
- Current drivers license
- Significant experience in coaching rowing at National Senior A level
- Experience in recruiting, developing and coaching high performance athletes
- Extensive and up to date technical knowledge of rowing at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team towards common goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including supporting other coaches
- Experience in selecting crews and squads for competition
- Computer literate
Desirable
- Current NSW speedboat licence
- Current Work Cover approved Senior First Aid certificate
- Understanding of budgetary management
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Responsible for the development, structure and coordination of the rowing coaching program for Sydney University Sport
- Implement up to date coaching methodologies to assist in the development of athletes
- Monitor and develop the club and elite training programs in conjunction with the Menˇ†s and Womenˇ†s coaches
- Manage and assist with the recruitment of new rowers to represent the university at club, state, national and Australian University Sport
- Assist in the elevation of standard of rower at SUBC & SUWRC
- Oversee and coordinate crew selection in a transparent and fair manner
- Assist with the organisation of entries into regattas, training camps, local and state competitions including Australian University Championships
- Assist in the allocation, maintenance and transport of SUBC & SUWRC equipment
- Forge positive and effective working relationship with SUBC & SUWRC crews, coaches and committee
Administration
- Produce reports for SUBC & SUWRC meetings as required including results, progress of coaching and athletes and recommendations for changes
- Comply with the objectives and reporting requirements of the Rowing Australia Elite Club Funding Program
- Other duties as directed by the Executive Director

The Head Coach is responsible for providing coaching to SUBC/ SUWRC members, developing and implementing the overall coaching program and providing support and guidance to other coaches. The Head Coach provides direction, support and leadership to elite and club athletes and assists with the day to day running of the boat sheds.
The Head Coach must have thorough and up to date technical knowledge of all levels of rowing; experience in coaching at all levels including high performance athletes, recruitment, development and retention of athletes. A Level 2 NCAS Coaching q.
